About Matt

Get to know Matt

Matt also knows firsthand the demands of running a small business. He co-founded Pearson Bollman Law with Phyllis Pearson in 2011 and also owns a rental property business, so he understands the challenges business owners and landlords face and brings that practical perspective to planning for their families and their futures.

A frequent speaker for both public audiences and professional groups, Matt is known for making complex legal topics clear and practical. His presentations include “The Top Ten Estate Planning Mistakes,” “What Is Probate? How to Avoid It,” “Asset Protection Planning for Iowa Retirees,” “Legal Issues Affecting Iowa Seniors,” and “Understanding VA Pension Benefits.”

Matt grew up in Northeast Iowa and earned his economics degree from the University of Northern Iowa before attending the University of Denver College of Law, graduating in 2000. He lived in Seattle and Phoenix before returning to Iowa in 2008 to raise his family closer to home, and he began practicing law in 2010. Today he works primarily from Pearson Bollman Law’s Milford office and is licensed to practice in Iowa.

Matt and his wife have two children and live near Saint Charles, Iowa. Matt enjoys hunting and fishing with his family on their recreational property, and they also have a home in Arnolds Park, where they spend time on the lakes.
